Effectiveness of hypnosis by mental imagination in reducing anxiety and labor pain in primi parous women

چکیده :

Introduction: Childbirth pain is one of the most severe pains that almost all women experience during labor, which can have adverse effects on both mother and fetus.The aim of study was Determining the effect of hypnosis with mental imaging of the delivery room on anxiety and pain in the first stage of labor in nulliparous women. Methods: The present study was clinical trial on 70 primiparous mothers referring to health centers. The research units were divided into intervention and control groups (35 people in each group) by permutation randomization method. The control group had a normal pregnancy and the mothers received routine care. Mothers who were randomly assigned to the intervention group were asked to watch the 15-minute delivery room video at 28 to 34 weeks of gestation. The intervention was in the form of film and hypnosis. The steps of self-hypnosis were performed by the therapist outside the maternity ward at 28 to 34 weeks. The amount of labor pain was measured in two stages (dilatation up to 4 cm, 4 to 8 cm) by McGill's pain ruler. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 21 with a significance level of 0.05. Results: According to t-test, the two groups were homogeneous in terms of age. Using repeated measures analysis of variance, the mean score of anxiety and pain in the intervention group was declined and there was a significant difference (p= 0.046).
